  • GE Café Dishwasher - Panel Pads Activate Randomly without Being Touched

    GE Café Dishwasher
    CDT828P2VS1

    Problem:
    The control pad along the top of the door suddenly no longer registers pad presses. Instead, it displays random presses; meaning, the indicator light beneath a given selection illuminates (along with corresponding "beep") then goes out, followed by the apparent activation of some other pad. There is no pattern. No pad responds to touch.

    I find only two t'shooting recommendations—neither had any effect:
    1) Thoroughly clean and dry the control surface, and;
    2) "Reset" the appliance by cutting power to it for [insert length of time here], then power back on.

    The dishwasher worked yesterday; today it behaves as described, and the dishwasher is unusable. Clearly there's some fault in the control pad controller widget.

    Thoughts? Suggestions? Anecdotes-of-an-identical-experience-and-instructions-on-how-to-fix-it..?

    Indicates possible moisture damage in the key panel assembly, possible pest infestation in the key panel assembly or just simply a part failure.

    Some sites say the key panel assembly is back ordered, some say it is now NLA and has been discontinued by the manufacture.

    Maybe a little light heat on the key panel will help with any moisture.

    Sorry couldn't help more.
