  • Frigidaire range

    Model- FEF316ASA
    Serial#- VF22717326

    possible mfg dates. ‘92, ‘02, and ‘12.

Believe it is older than ‘02.

The oven seems to get to hot on lower temps but not do much on higher temps.
Example/. Warm might show on thermometer at 200f or more.

    200 might show as 300f
350 only shows to be like 375.

I really had to do some serious cleaning on this range.
Think maybe I should clean and or sand the temp probe that fits along the side of the top of the oven?
Could it be insulated to some degree by grease buildup?

P.S. Jeff, I thought I sent you a message a few days ago, but I think it failed to send.
Doing okay here. Hope all is good with you and yours.

Parts breakdown has a date on the pages of 2001.

That would definitely be something worth trying for sure....but it kinda more sounds like a bad temp control to me. If both elements work ok, door closes good, the temp control itself would be suspect.

That is what I was thinking too, but was hoping maybe something cheap and simple.
I will try cleaning the probe since it seems possible that it might be insulated a little and not working right until temps reach a high reading.
Kind of makes me think of dryer stats getting covered in whatever and not cycling like they should.
From now on, I will really have to confident whether I want to fool with nasty stoves that takes so much time to clean. Smh.

      P.S. I think I meant to say I don’t think it is ‘12.

I know exactly what you mean...I hated cleaning up someone else's stove mess!

Scrapper. That control is too expensive.

Any parts worth saving or did you sell the range as a boat anchor?

I think I still have it along with a couple of others.
Sometimes, something comes in that has parts I can use.
Have a GE control board beside me now that I think has a relay sticking or a bad capacitor.
I do not have the right meter to check it on the board.

Maybe you can take two or three and make one good one.
