    How to Replace a Fridge Water Filter






    While every refrigerator has different instructions, we thought we'd share some general directions on how to replace a water filter. You'll want to replace your fridge water filter every six months or so.

    Here are some general directions on how to replace the two main forms of *refrigerator water filters*. How to Change a Push-in Fridge Water Filter
    1. Find the water filter either on the grille at the bottom, in a drawer or at the top rear of the fridge
    2. Push the button to release and remove the old water filter
    3. Pull the old fridge water filter out
    4. Pull the old fridge water filter out, take the cap off of the old filter and put it on the new water filter
    5. Push in the new filter till it locks into place
    6. Run a gallon or two of water out of the water dispenser to remove any carbon residue
    7. Throw away the first batch or two of ice from the ice maker for the same reason
    8. Enjoy your new water filter!
    How to Replace a Twist-on Refrigerator Water Filter
    1. Locate the water filter on either the bottom grille, back or inside of the refrigerator
    2. Twist the water filter a 1/4 of a turn counterclockwise
    3. Pull the fridge water filter out
    4. Remove the knob on the filter and place it on the new water filter
    5. Turn the fridge water filter 1/4 of a turn clockwise to lock it
    6. Run a gallon or two of water out of the water dispenser to remove any carbon residue
    7. Throw away the first batch or two of ice from the ice maker for the same reason
    8. Enjoy your new water filter!
